“6-day Poon Hill trekking with Royal Mountain Trekking”

The 3210 high Poon Hill is a great place to see all Annapurna Mountains by sunrise. If you don’t want to spend 12 to 16 days doing the whole Annapurna circuit but would love to see the Himalayas this is the way to go.

We spend the nights in the so-called tea houses along the route which were basic but provided thick blankets against the cold in the night (-2), a hot shower and even some wifi! They served good Nepali meals and pizza/pasta and some Chinese dishes as well. We woke up every morning with hot massala tea, an awesome view of snowy himalayan peaks and an apple pancake or Tibetan bread with honey, just perfect. (only the breakfast was included, but that may differ with what you bargain for.)

Walking up the mountain we met different fellowships walking different tracks: just Poon Hill/ Annapurnacircuit/ Annapurna basecamp. Big groups with lots of porters and a guide, people walking with a porter-guide, people without a guide and people like us, with one porter and one guide. Our guide was a nice guy from a more Tibetan village in the eastern part of Nepal, our porter was from Pokhara. The guide spoke English and explained a lot about the mountains, the crops groing in the fields we passed and even about politics and living in Nepal. In the evening he taught us card tricks and we played cards with other groups and with some of the porters. We were happy we booked with a guide, without we’d be instant lost in the woods. We booked at royalmt.com.np their is English is good, know a lot, have trekking certificates and are just nice guys to spend your trekking days with.
