Pashupatinath is one of the holiest shrines of all Hindus. It is located in the eastern part of Kathmandu valley on the bank of Bagmati River. Two tire magnificent golden temple has four triple silver doorways is a unique example of Nepalese temple architecture. Having the area of approx. 2.5 kilometers it is one of the largest Hindu temples in South-Asia.
The main temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva which is believed to be 2000 years old. Also hundreds of ancient lingam, shrines, icons and statues of different Hindu Gods and Goddesses can be seen in the temple. Lord Shiva is believed as the master or God of all living beings (Pashu = all living beings, pati = master and nath = God).
Non Hindu tourists are allowed only to visit many temples and shrines situated at the riverside. It is also the area where you can observe cremation of dead bodies in Hindu rituals in the bank of the holy river Bagmati.
The Boudhanath stupa
It is one of the largest and oldest monuments of Nepal, standing 36m high. Surrounded by many private colorful houses Boudhanath Stupa is considered as Mecca for Tibetan Buddhists.
The Stupa is built in mandals style having three levels of platform. There is no written document about who and when the stupa was built. Yet according to the legend it is believed that it was built by a poor lady with her four sons in fifth century AD.
Patan is one of the oldest and major cities of Kathmandu valley. Founded in 3rd century by King Veera Dev is famous for Newari crafts and culture. The finest Hindu and Buddhism Monuments are scattered in the area but most important Hindu temples and Buddhist Shrines, traditional art and crafts, old palace are in the durbar square.
The Golden window, the royal bath of Sundaru Chowk, Taleju Temple and Keshab Narayan Chowk are worth visiting. According to the legend Great Emperor Ashoka gave the city a shape of the Buddhist Mandala by erecting four stupas in four directions and one in the centre of the city during his visit with his daughter Charumati around in third century BC.
There are more than 1200 temples and shrines within the city and Patan Durbar Square (a complex of temples and palace which is UNESCO world heritage site), Hiranyavarna Maha Vihar (famous as Golden temple) are the major attractions of Patan.
Bhaktapur, an ancient town of Kathmandu valley, is a UNESCO world cultural heritage site. Home to the palace and many other ancient temples is located at the east corner of Kathmandu valley with approximately half a million people. The word Bhaktapur means the city of devotees and is supposed to have been built in the shape of conch shell, a scared symbol of Lord Vishnu.
Anciently, Bhaktapur was trade route between China-Tibet and India. Tibetan caravans used to exchange their sheep, sheep woolen products and other herbal medicines with sugar, grains, species etc with Indian caravans. Bhaktapur, famous for its handicrafts and Buddhist scripture, was the trade hub of its time. This fueled prosperity along with the cultural life which later temple builders developed Pagoda-Style and spread it throughout Asia.

Kathmandu Durbar square
Popularly known as Hanuman Dhoka Palace -an ancient seat of Nepalese Royalty lies in the heart of capital city. It is a complex of tremendous variety of temples, courtyards and palaces like Hanumandhoka Palace, Kumari Ghar (Abode of the Living Goddess), Taleju temple (used to be the seat of the ancient Malla Kings of Kathmandu. The Durbar Square, a UNESCO world Heritage Site, is still a focal point for social and religious ceremonies. Till date, all major state and social ceremonies are celebrated here.

At Lumbini, we check into hotel and spend some time for lunch. We start our day with a pleasant visit at the birth place of Lord Buddha – the founder of Buddhism. The birth place of Gautam Buddha is confirmed by an inscribed pillar erected in 3rd BC by the great Indian Buddhist emperor Ashoka, and the presence of a number of ancient ruins. This the place explaining the ephemeral nature of human endeavor. Ashoka pillar, Lumbini Garden, Mayadevi temple etc are major attractions of Lumbini.
The excavation revealed a considerable walled fortress approximately 300 meters long and 200 meters wide and containing exposed foundations of several building complexes which is exacavated by robin coningham and armin schmidt
Tilaurakot/Kapilvastu is place were Buddha grew up and lived in Kingdom to the age of 29. Siddhartha is the prince of kapilvastu where he spent his life , mostly oblivious of worldly miseries
Tibetan Refugees camp
Tibetan Refugees camp is 20 minute drive from lake side at Hengja also known as the area of Tibetan Refugees. Here you can see life style of refugees & Buddhist monastery (Hengja monastery).
The actual name of the waterfall is Patale Chhango in Nepali. It later became popular as “David Fall” after Ms. David from Switzerland suddenly fell down from here. She came with her husband to visit this place.
It is called Gupteshwor Mahadev because of the shrine inside the cave. We can see a cave under the ground. In the cave, the image of Shiva serpant & some other belongies are naturally carved around the wall.
